Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg
Responding to a plea for missionaries to America, Sister Theresa
Hackelmeier arrived in Oldenburg, Indiana on January 6, 1851.
From those humble beginnings grew the Sisters of St. Francis of
Oldenburg — women of prayer committed to the Gospel values as
lived by St. Francis and Mother Theresa Hackelmeier, serving
in education, parish ministry, social service, healthcare, and
social justice.

The purpose of the Associate program is to allow Sisters and
Associates to explore together a call from God, to enable both
