There is no place like home

Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg

Pam and her husband Clarence (Butch) have lived in Batesville for the past 26 years. Butch has three sons from a first marriage along with three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Pam has a daughter and son from a first marriage along with twin granddaughters and two grandsons. In addition, Pam and Butch have two Siamese cats one named Xavier and the other Toots. Pam’s interests include baking cookies, all things Xavier, helping people, following the Cincinnati Bengals and Xavier men’s Basketball. When Pam and Butch first started attending liturgy at the Motherhouse they became good friends with then Chaplain, Fr. Carl Hawver OFM. Pam and Butch have a great love for the Oldenburg Sisters and would often take some of their friend sisters out to McDonalds and or shopping. Another favorite pastime was hanging out at the pool.

St. Andre’ Burkhart introduced Pam to the Associate Relationship and served as Pam’s contact person in her journey to becoming an Associate. Pam signed her Associate commitment on September 27, 2015. She soon became involved with helping Andre’ with Adopt-a-sis. Pam said she just really enjoyed seeing the interaction between the Sisters and students.

Quoting the Wizard of Oz, Pam feels when coming to Oldenburg, “There is no place like home.” When Pam’s good friend Ruth Beeler’s dog was still living, Pam enjoyed walking Mako through St. Clare Hall where Mako would greet and meet the Sisters and the Sisters could love and pet on him.
