Congregation of Divine Providence
In August 1889, three Sisters set out from the convent in
St. Jean de Bassel, France to come to the Diocese of Covington,
Kentucky. Today the Congregation of Divine Providence of Kentucky
continues the mission of their founder Blessed John Martin Moye,
serving throughout the Tri-State region and beyond.
ABOUT THEIR ASSOCIATE PROGRAM
In 2026 the Associates of the Congregation of Divine Providence
of Kentucky celebrate their 50th anniversary — a milestone marking
five decades of faithful commitment to the congregation’s charism.
With nearly 100 members from nine states, Ireland, and Ghana, the
Associate community continues to grow.
The mission of the Associates of Divine Providence is to be a
community of God’s people who, inspired by the spirituality and
charism of Blessed Jean Martin Moye and in relationship with the
Sisters of Divine Providence of Kentucky, act as instruments of
God’s providence for the world by practicing the spiritual and
corporal works of mercy with a spirit of simplicity, poverty,
charity, and abandonment to Divine Providence.
HOW TO BECOME AN ASSOCIATE
Candidates go through a formation program that takes them more
deeply into the meanings of the four fundamental virtues of
Blessed John Martin Moye: simplicity, apostolic charity, spirit
of poverty, and abandonment to Divine Providence. ACDP members
do not change their way of life — they bring the charism into
their own particular life circumstances.
